UNIBOARDTM CANADA INVESTS $3 MILLION IN THERMALLY FUSED MELAMINE CAPACITY AT ITS SAYABEC, QUEBEC OPERATION
Laval, Quebec (August 23, 2012) – Uniboard, a North American leader in engineered wood products, is investing $3 million to increase thermally fused melamine capacity and improve efficiency at its Sayabec, Quebec operations.
The Company’s Sayabec plant, already one of North America’s most efficient and flexible thermally fused melamine producers, will make major investments to its TFM press #3 production line. Work will begin in the fourth quarter of 2012 with an expected completion of January 2013. Major upgrades will provide increased capacity to supply a wider range of finishes, such as its recently-launched RIO™ and High Gloss finishes to meet the growing demand of its customer base.
Uniboard’s President and CEO James Hogg stated: “This investment not only increases our thermally fused melamine capacity but will also keep us at the leading edge of technology. As the leader in Quebec, Ontario and the Northeast United States markets, this investment will allow Uniboard to better service our customers.”
“This major capital expenditure reinforces Sayabec’s position as a North American thermally fused melamine leader and reconfirms to our employees, the community and our customers our continued commitment to setting the standard,” Said Claude Leblanc, Sayabec’s Director of Operations who will oversee the project.
