Laval, QC – February 13, 2025 — Uniboard Canada announced today that it has earned the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) Certified Biobased Product Label for Uniboard Medium Density Fiberboard (MDF), as well as its Thermally Fused Laminate (TFL) and Particleboard. ? 100% USDA Certified Biobased: MDF and TFL
? 95% USDA Certified Biobased: Particleboard
The USDA Certified Biobased Product Label provides third-party verification of a product’s renewable content, ensuring greater transparency and trust in the marketplace. With this certification, Uniboard reaffirms its commitment to innovation, sustainability, and responsible manufacturing—without compromising durability or design flexibility.
"At Uniboard, we believe that sustainability and innovation go hand in hand," said Don Raymond, VP of Sales and Marketing at Uniboard. "Earning the USDA Certified Biobased Product Label is an important milestone in our journey towards a greener future. Our customers can be confident that they are choosing high-performance materials that not only meet their needs but also contribute to reducing environmental impact."
The Uniboard Medium Density Fiberboard and other certified products can now display a unique USDA label that highlights their percentage of biobased content. Third-party verification for a product's biobased content is administered through the USDA BioPreferred® Program, which strives to increase the development, purchase, and use of biobased products.

About the USDA BioPreferred® Program:
With the goal of increasing the development, purchase, and use of biobased products, USDA’s BioPreferred® Program was first introduced in the 2002 Farm Bill and reauthorized in 2018. The program encourages federal agencies and contractors to prioritize the procurement of biobased products. The USDA BioPreferred Program also includes a voluntary certification and labeling initiative, referred to as the USDA Certified Biobased Product Label.
More than 1,800 companies across the U.S. and in 47 countries participate in the program, helping drive economic growth, support rural industries, and promote environmentally responsible product innovation.
